FleetEV brings a buzz to Newport primary school with careers workshop

Cardiff-based electric vehicle (EV) provider FleetEV joined Councillor Rhian Howells at Ringland Primary this month to deliver a careers-focused session to Year 4 pupils, in partnership with 2B Enterprising.

FleetEV works with 2B Enterprising to deliver the ‘Bumbles of Honeywood’ programme, through which they support essential skills workshops for 20 schools across Wales. The initiative introduces children to basic business concepts and entrepreneurial skills, but also focuses on developing their problem-solving abilities, teamwork and social responsibility.

The collaboration is part of FleetEV’s wider commitment to social value. Through the FleetEV Future Fund, the company supports a range of local causes, including enterprise education, grassroots sports and charitable initiatives.

The Year 4 pupils at Ringland Primary School welcomed Louise Griffin from FleetEV, Tracy Bracher from 2B Enterprising and Cllr Howells for a careers workshop. The children explored different types of jobs and discussed the skills they would need to pursue their dream roles.

FleetEV’s commitment to the initiative is shown through their promise to engage with a new school in every new area they work in. Currently working closely with Newport Council to upgrade their fleet to EV including cars, tippers and dog welfare vehicles, FleetEV stepped into support Ringland Primary for the first time with this session and Cllr Howells offered to join in.

Louise Griffin, Head of Operations at FleetEV, said: “It was fantastic to see how engaged the children were in thinking about their futures and the skills they’ll need along the way. At FleetEV, we’re passionate about supporting young people and helping them develop the confidence and awareness to succeed, in whatever path they choose. We can’t wait to get the school year fully underway and have more sessions booked in with our brilliant partners 2B Enterprising.”

Cllr Howells added: “The workshop at Ringland Primary School was a brilliant example of how schools and businesses can work together to make a real difference. It was wonderful to see our local pupils so enthusiastic about their futures, and to know they are gaining skills that will stay with them as they grow.

“A big thank you to FleetEV for inviting me along for the session and to 2B Enterprising and Ringland Primary for having me.”

FleetEV focuses on making the switch to EVs practical and efficient through comprehensive leasing, salary sacrifice, and fleet solutions tailored to diverse client needs, across public and private sectors.
