Cardiff-based business awarded significant contract to drive Wales’ EV transition

PLUG Charging is celebrating after its successful placement on the Welsh Government’s EV Charging Infrastructure Framework.

The major contract will see the company deliver electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions across Wales, including EV charger installations, lamp column chargers, roof solar, and solar car ports.

PLUG Charging has been awarded a place on multiple lots within the framework, including both electric vehicle charge points and emerging technologies. Valued at £45 million (excluding VAT), this framework presents significant growth opportunities for the Cardiff-based company, positioning it as a leader in sustainable EV infrastructure across the region.

The framework encompasses the public sector in Wales, covering over 200 eligible organisations, and will address public and depot charging needs. As part of the framework, PLUG will also offer off-grid, net-zero charging solutions, and all energy supplied through PLUG’s chargers will be sourced from 100% renewable sources, reinforcing the company’s commitment to a sustainable future.

This milestone complements the efforts of PLUG’s sister company, FleetEV, which supports organisations in transitioning to electric vehicles through tailored leasing, salary sacrifice, and fleet solutions.

Jarrad Morris, CEO and Founder of PLUG and FleetEV, said: “We’re thrilled to be recognised as a key player in the Welsh Government’s EV Charging Infrastructure Framework. This is a monumental step forward for us and the public sector in Wales.

“Through this framework, we have the opportunity to provide sustainable, green energy-powered charging solutions, and the inclusion of solar technologies like roof solar and solar car ports enhances our ability to create a resilient, future-proof charging network. We’re eager to engage with the organisations involved and drive real change in Wales’ EV landscape.”
